Abstract:
Oil and gas exploration prospect in Wushi sag and Wensu uplift of Tat^m Basin was studied by the methods of geological investigation in the field and analysis of lithological sections and seismic information. The results of geologic investigation on the surface show that three series source rocks of Permian, Triassic, Jurassic and series of reservoir-caprock combinations developed in Wushi sag. The thermal evolution history of source rocks and the oil seeps proved that petroleum accumulation had happened in the area once. Compression anticlines formed during late Hymalaya tectonic movement were favorable site for petroleum accumulation in Wushi sag. Wensu uplift as part of Tabei uplift was an inheriting paleouplift during geologic epoch. It has been separated from Tabei uplift by the huge Kalayuergun fault since Paleocene epoch. Wensu uplift was hold by Wushi and Awati hydrocarbon-generating sag. There are poly exploratory horizons including two rock types of carbonates and sandstones at the same time. Therefore, Wushi sag and Wensu uplift are stratagem-superseding areas for oil and gas exploration with fine prospect in Tarim Basin.
