Abstract:
Shahejie formation in Chengdao Oilfield is characterized by high content of clay minerals that are mainly illite and illite/montmorillonite, slight swellability and development microfracture and horizontal beddings. Drilling fluid and its filtrate can easily penetrate into such formation, which can result in borehole collapse. According to the characters of Shahejie formation in Chengdao Oilfield, .polyglycol seawater drilling fluid with strong inhibition was developed. The properties of this drilling fluid were evaluated, and its anti-collapse mechanism was analyzed. The results of in-house test indicate that the drilling fluid is characterized by good rheological property, low filtrate loss, superior collapse-preventing effectiveness, strong seawater and clay resistance and environmentally friendly character. The field tests show that the drilling fluid has stable properties and convenient conditioning, the questions appearing in Shahejie formation during drilling can be effectively resolved and avoid the complex situations emergency.
