Abstract:
Fault is the main factor controlling the tectonic evolution in Dongying depression. The characteristics of the fault activities of Shahejie— Etongying periods were researched by the fault throw method in Dongying depression. The results show that the fault activity appears strong and weak alternately in the extension direction of N - S during the Paleogene in Dongying depression. The fault activities were intense in ES3 and the lower part of Es2 periods, and obviously weaken in the later of Es2 to Ed periods. The faults have manifold different gecmetrical shapes in the plane and the section in Dongying depression, which make up manifold faulted blocks being half graben, half horst and graben-horst, and the distribution makes the Dongying depression be segmented from north to south. The space-time distributor! of fault activities takes on inhomogeneity, and the inner faults of Dongying depression are characterized by subsection in space under the extension with two-direction taking in NW — SE and N —S.
