Experiment on pressure fluctuation characteristic of severe slugging

Abstract:
In order to find the rule of characteristic parameters of severe slugging in the riser-pipe systems, the experimental investigation on characteristic parameters of air-water severe slugging in experimental pipeline-riser systems was conducted using pressure sensor. By analyzing the pressure signal of one point in riser pipe, the relations between the characteristic points in the pressure signal profile and the arrival situation of the liquid slug were given. A new measurement method about the computation of the liquid slug velocity, liquid slug length and period of cycle, was proposed. When gas and liquid flow rate is constant9 the period of severe slugging is strict. The characteristic parameters of severe slugging, such as the liquid slug length, the liquid slug velocity and period of cycle fluctuate slightly.
