Transmission characteristics test of acoustic wave in drill pipe

Abstract:
The experiment testing the drill pipe 's acoustic wave transmission characteristics in the laboratory was done. The vibration generator and homemade excitation device were used as the excitation source and the special drill pipe nipple as transmission signal path. The acoustic wave transmission characteristics were researched under three different conditions of drill pipe filling air, water and sandbag. The sweep frequency signal was used to excite the drill pipe, and the optimal acoustic wave transmission frequency was ascertained in the drill pipe. The empirical formula of the acoustic wave 's attenuation was given in the drill pipe.The results show that the drill pipe coupling and acoustic wave frequency are the main factors of acoustic wave 's attenuation, and longitudinal wave is better carrier to transmit information. The drill pipe signal path passband of non smooth, comb filter structure was verified.
