Abstract:
Reed was applied to remediate the petroleum contaminated soil in Xinjiang. Hie effects of petroleum hydrocarbons on the growth of reeds and the change of microorganisms number in reed rhizosphere in the conditions of oil pollution were investigated. The results show that total petroleum hydrocarbon removal of phytoremediation by reed could reach as high as 41. 21% -62. 14% , is significantly higher than the blank sample control of 19. 75% -37. 92%. The saturated hydrocaH>on removal is higher than the other component in petroleum and arrives at 60.52% -73. 11%. The reed is well tolerated with crude oil pollution. When the petroleum contamination rate is less than 1,25%,the reed can effectively promote the removal of petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil. Microorganism number in reed rhizosphere has a positive correlation with the petroleum removal. The planting of reed enhances the activities of petroleum degrading species. The remediation of reed depends on rfiizosphere. The suitable microbial communities guarantee the remediation of petroleum in soil by reed.
