Seismic reservoir quality evaluation in tight sandstone reservoirs

Abstract:
Taking tight sandstone reservoirs in Honggang area as an example, a seismic reservoir quality evaluation method in tight sandstone reservoirs was discussed. According to the characteristics of tight sandstone reservoir in Honggang area, a comprehensive parameter for evaluating reservoir quality, RQCP is introduced, which incorporates lithology and physical properties, in order to determine the levels of reservoir quality and to resolve the problem of reservoir classification. Based on optimized seismic attributes, using kernel Fisher discriminant analysis(KFDA) algorithm, the classification model is built between seismic attributes and reservoir quality levels to predict a reservoir quality distribution plane; constrained by 2D planes, a three-dimensional reservoir quality evaluation model was constructed. The research shows that the three-dimension model that uses this seismic reservoir quality evaluation method can describe reservoir quality distributions well, suggesting a broader application of the method in tight sandstone reservoirs in other regions.
