Design and application of the evaluation method for fracturing fluid temperature stabilizer

Abstract:
In order to evaluate the improving effect of the temperature stabilizer on the temperature resistance properties of fracturing fluid, one method was designed, in which the highest temperature Tmax(η0,t0) was determined gradually using the numerical search method starting from the upper limit temperature, and the increased value of applicable temperature ΔTmax(η0,t0) for temperature stabilizer was calculated. The improving effects of two temperature stabilizers for organic boron crosslinked hydroxypropyl guar gum fracturing fluid were analyzed experimentally. It is found that the Tmax(η0,t0) of fracturing fluid increases 4.5-10 ℃ and 6-14 ℃ by the addition of 0.1%-0.8% temperature stabilizer S-1 and S-2, respectively. Hence, the designed evaluation method is able to distinguish the performance of different temperature stabilizers.
