Mechanical analysis of truss spar platform with multi-point mooring system

Abstract:
The main body of truss spar platform and mooring system were considered as an integrated coupled system, through which the coupled dynamic analysis were conducted using ANSYS/AQWA, and the motion response and tension response of truss spar platform at four different working conditions were obtained. It is found that the mooring line failure would increase the surge response and tension response drastically. The extreme environmental loads would increase the response of truss spar. Besides, comparing the results of truss spar with 8-point mooring system and 12-point mooring system, 12-point mooring system would decrease the response of truss spar.
