Abstract:
A new non-linear analysis method was proposed in this work to predict the vortex-induced vibration(VIV) response of deepwater riser, in which large deformation of risers was considered, and accordingly a program for the solution of the model was designed. In this paper, the VIV response of deepwater top tensioned riser operated in a water depth of 1500 m was investigated as a case study. The new method can be used to predict the VIV characters of deepwater risers, and the results indicate that the effect of the heave of a floating platform in VIV response of deepwater risers is strongly dependent on the environmental load, riser parameters, the amplitude and frequency of the heave.
