Evaluation on low temperature performance of paving asphalt using bending beam rheometer

Abstract:
The bending beam rheometer (BBR) was used to measure the creep stiffness module for six base and six modified asphalts at different low temperatures and loading time. Based on the time-temperature superposition (ITS),the Sigmoid model was employed to fit the experimental data and the master curves of the creep stiffness for the twelve asphalts were obtained. The area under the master curve was used to evaluate the low temperature performance of the asphalts. The results indicate that this index has a clear physical meaning and can evaluate the low temperature performance better than the traditional indexes.
