Design and ground test of downhole oil-water separation system with screw pump

Abstract:
An innovative system of downhole oil-water separation with surface driving screw pump was designed by combination of the surface driving screw pump and downhole oil-water separation system. The structure compositions and working principle of this system, the design method of the bushing effective length of the single screw pump with double flow channels and the dual-class hydrocyclone in series were introduced. The X well was used to the separation performance test of the dual-class hydrocyclone in series with actual media on the ground. The results show that in a certain range, the oil mass fraction of the underflow decreases with the increase of the split ratio and it increases firstly and then decreases with the increase of the inlet flow rate. When the split ratio is larger than 0.3 and the inlet flow rate is between 24 m3/d and 42 m3/d, the oil mass fraction of the underflow is below 200×10-6. The design method of the key devices is reasonable.
