Abstract:
Aniline point is a property that characterizes the hydrocarbon structure and chemical composition of petroleum fractions. 127 aniline point experimental data of petroleum fractions were used for the evaluation of seven correlations of aniline point with petroleum fractions properties as variables. The results indicate that Walsh-Mortimer and Albahri correlations with medium average boiling point (middle boiling point) and relative density (d15.615.6) as indirect variables have great deviations for the estimation of aniline point, with the average relative deviations (ARD) of 25.10% and 7.89%. The ARD of Winn nomogram for aniline point is 1.27%.However, the Winn nomogram is difficult to be fitted as a correlation, which is not suitable for the computer calculation. Linden, API, Chen, et al, and Shou-Xiang correlation present good results for the estimation of the aniline point, and the ARD is 1.73%,1.45%,0.98%, and 0.96%, respectively. The petroleum fractions, which are estimated by Chen, et al and Shou-Xiang correlation with the ARD less than 3%, account for 92.9% and 98.4%, respectively. The preferred methods are Shou-Xiang and Chen, et al correlation for the estimation of aniline point of petroleum fractions, followed by API and Linden correlations. By evaluating the seven estimation methods for aniline point, it provides references for the method selection and improvement.
