Abstract:
The solubility of guar gum(GG),hydroxypropyl guar gum(HPG) and carboxymethyl hydroxypropyl guar gum(CMHPG) in alcohol/water mixed solvents with different ethanol volume fractions were investigated. Alcohol-containing fracturing fluid was prepared with sodium tetraborate as crosslinking agent. The change of cross-linking performance and temperature resistance property with ethanol content were analyzed. It is found that GG, HPG and CMHPG can be fully dissolved when the ethanol volume fraction is 10%, 50% and 60%, respectively. After adding crosslinking agent sodium tetraborate, alcohol-containing crosslinked fracturing fluid can be formed when the ethanol content does not exceed 30% and 50% for HPG and CMHPM, respectively. Because ethanol has the dual functions of inhibiting molecular chain degradation and enhancing the cross-linking degree, alcohol-containing crosslinked fracturing fluid has stronger temperature resistance than water-based fracturing fluid.
