Review on application of machine learning in hydraulic fracturing

Abstract:
Hydraulic fracturing is a widely used stimulation technology for oil and gas wells. The application of machine learning in hydraulic fracturing operations was summarized, and the application value of machine learning in engineering was focused on mainly. The classical machine learning algorithm, parameter prediction and evaluation of hydraulic fracturing operation by machine learning, and productivity prediction and optimization of hydraulic fracturing operation by machine learning were analyzed. It is discussed that machine learning algorithm can assist the hydraulic fracturing analysis to improve the hydraulic fracturing production rate, and the original data can be converted into useful information by machine learning algorithm to assist engineers in decision-making. Finally, the development direction of machine learning in hydraulic fracturing operations is to establish a common platform for data sets, and the machine learning algorithm, optimization algorithm and physical modeling are mixed, which provides support for the development of efficient hydraulic fracturing technology based on machine learning.
